Police in Dubai are now training on flying bikes in bid to improve curbing crime and responding to emergencies.
Courtesy of California based electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle manufacture Hoversurf, the first police have been gifted with S3 2019 Hoverbike and are being trained to fly it.
According to Brigadier Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi, general director of Dubai Police’s artificial intelligence department, the bikes aimed at targeting hard to reach areas will be in action by 2020.
“Currently we have two crews already training (to pilot the hoverbike) and we’re increasing the number,” he told CNN.
The bikes would also be open to civilians who can operate it in Dubai. They could cost Ksh.15 Million shillings.
The bikes which are being used in US have met met Federal Aviation Administration guidelines which do not require a pilot’s license to operate it.
