Eric Omondi has touched the hearts of many Kenyans after sharing an emotional video of himself helping singer Marya out of her house to get some fresh air as she battles a debilitating stroke. The heartbreaking moment highlighted just how much Marya’s life has changed, as she now needs 24-hour care to manage her condition.
Marya, known for popular hits such as Chokoza featuring Avril and Hey Baby with Mustapha, revealed that her life took a sudden and devastating turn one morning when she experienced numbness on one side of her body. During a conversation with Eric Omondi, the singer shared that she had been holding her baby when her right hand suddenly gave way. In her words, “I woke up one morning okay, I was holding my baby and I just tried to hold the baby tightly near me and the hand just gave up. The baby fell, and as I tried to get up to pick my baby, my left leg also gave up. The left side is completely numb.”
Marya was diagnosed with an ischemic stroke and now requires constant care and daily physiotherapy sessions. Unfortunately, the condition has forced her to cancel her shows, leaving her financially strained. She explained, “I have bills piling up, I have physio which I have to do to get better. It’s not easy. I feel like my life took a 360 turn. One morning you wake up okay and then that’s it.”
Eric Omondi, deeply moved by her story, appealed to fans and well-wishers to contribute whatever they can to support Marya’s recovery and care. Contributions can be sent to her number: 0719210779. The comedian urged the public to stand with the singer in her time of need.

Avril shared that Marya is on the road to recovery but needs all the help she can get. She also revealed that the stroke was caused by a blood clot that disrupted the oxygen supply to Marya’s brain.
Marya’s courage and determination in facing this life-altering challenge have touched many, and Kenyans across the country are rallying to support one of their beloved music stars.
