Girl Who Scored The Same Grade After Repeating KCSE Exams Commits Suicide

When Carren Ouma sat for her first KCSE exams in Osingo Secondary in Migori County in 2016, she was not happy with the grade (C-)but hoped for the best, she did the noble thing and went back to redo the same exams in 2016.

But even when she did so from a different school, the result for her were all the same. It demoralized and led her to taking away her dear life.

She took her life away by jumping into a well on the Wednesday 20.12.2017 night, the same day exams had been released.

Hundreds of thousands of this year’s Form Four leavers have been locked out of universities and other tertiary institutions. The results released on Wednesday indicate that only 70,073 out of the 611,952 candidates-just 11.5 percent-managed the minimum university entry qualification of mean grade C+.
