The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non- governmental organization that carries out high quality, policy relevant-research on population, health and education issues facing sub-Saharan Africa. The Center through its Research and Research Capacity Strengthening Divisions has opened up internship opportunities in the following projects for a period of 3-6 months starting Mid-April 2022.

- Supporting the writing of manuscripts documenting the impact of APHRC short course trainings
- Evaluation of the Hygiene and Behavior Change Coalition for COVID 19 prevention: The inclusion of people with disabilities, older people, and older adults with disabilities
- Improvement of water services supplied by the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company in Kibera, Kenya
- Reckitt Study (Handwashing in Low income settlements in Kenya)
- The Zero Hunger Initiative
- Challenging the Politics of Social Exclusion – Calculus of Sex Program
- Challenging the Politics of Social Exclusion (Incidence of abortion survey in Liberia and Sierra Leone)
- Challenging the Politics of Social Exclusion (CPSE) – Sexual and Gender Minority
- Ethnography of infanticide in Senegal
- Barriers and opportunities to safe abortion in humanitarian settings in East Africa
- Kinship, Nuptiality, and Child Health Outcomes in a Low Income Urban Area
- The Zero Hunger Initiative (II)
Responsibilities– Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Work with the assigned supervisor to develop a set of objectives for the internship, a work plan, and to deliver on the objectives
- Work closely with an identified supervisor to provide frequent project updates, reports etc.
- Contribute to policy engagement and strategic planning as may be needed
- Submit an article/ publication to institutional crediting work (i.e. lay dissemination materials such as- policy/research briefs and fact sheets)
- Make at least one brown bag presentation during their internship period at APHRC
- Submit a written report at least 1 week before the end of their attachment at APHRC
- Submit an internship/visiting scholar feedback form
