Call For Applications For Scholarships Being Awarded Under Multinational Uganda-Kenya: Kapchorwa-Suam-Kitale And Eldoret Town Bypass Roads Project
The Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) program will be implemented by a team of local selected technical and vocational training institutes within Uasin Gishu County and Trans Nzoia County.
The aim of this scholarship is to support a capacity development process during the project period that will assist the youth and People Living with Disabilities to be considered for training.
ELIBIBILITY CRITERIA
Applications may be submitted by those who meet the following criteria on the expiry date of this call for applications.
i. Basic Criteria for Selection for Vocational Skills Training
a) Must be Aged between 18 and 35 years old with no formal training at Diploma level or above;
b) Persons who are able to read and write with KCSE or KCPE Certificates;
c) Persons who may have dropped out of school with no formal training;
d) Consideration of the applicants from low income families and those living in informal settlements within the counties
traversed by the project road;
e) Should be a resident of Uasin Gishu County, or of Trans Nzoia County;
ii. Added Advantage for Selection for Vocational Skills Training Opportunity
a) Youth who are orphaned and/or those from single parenthood families will have an added advantage;
b) Young single mothers who meet the qualifications will have an added advantage;
c) Applicants who are categorized as Persons living with disability
SCOPE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship shall cover the following areas;
i. Tuition fee;
ii. Boarding fees within institutions;
iii. Subsistence allowance; a monthly stipend will be provided to each training beneficiary while undertaking classwork.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications shall be received through the offices of the County Commissioners Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia or KeNHA Regional Offices North Rift (Eldoret).
SELECTION PROCEDURES AND AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS
The selection of youth participants for training will be undertaken with the support of the National Government representatives/
public administration in the respective communities.
All received application letters will be evaluated against the key indicators. This process will be followed by a physical presentation/vetting interview of applicants who meets the basic criteria for vocational technical training. The output of this vetting
process will be a list of youth applicants to be endorsed for training.
Scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of a comparative evaluation of the applications submitted, of the requirements met,
and of the criteria relating to the merit established according to a specific evaluation chart.
PUBLICATION OF THE MERIT RANKING
At the end of the selection procedure, the merit ranking of the candidates to whom scholarships have been granted shall be published.
