The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is a State Corporation established by the Kenya Roads
Act, 2007 under the Ministry of Roads and Transport to manage, develop, rehabilitate, and maintain National Urban Trunk Roads.
KURA runs a one-year internship program targeting graduates from Universities and Colleges
seeking exposure to real work-place experiences.
The program aims at providing a linkage between education, training and industry for the interns to increase their employability in the labour market.
The following internship opportunities are available in FY 2023/2024 to support KURA operations at the Headquarters (Barabara Plaza) and/or any of our ten regional offices in Nairobi, Meru, Garissa, Mombasa, Kakamega, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Nyeri and Machakos.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to an internship position, a candidate:
- Must be in possession of a relevant degree/diploma from a recognized institution;
- Must be a Kenyan youth aged between 20 and 35 years;
- Must have completed their training and graduated not earlier than 2018; and
- Must have a recommendation/reference letter from University/College attended.
NB: Civil Engineering graduates are required to be registered as Graduate Engineers by the
Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
To qualify, an applicant must:
- Be a person of integrity.
- Be goal oriented, dynamic, self- motivated and passionate individual.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be a team player and can solve problems.
- Be proficient in computer skills.

- The Authority does not guarantee employment after completion of the Internship program and the internship is not renewable;
- Monthly Stipend payable is Kshs.25,000 for degree holders and Kshs.20,000 for diploma holders and is subject to statutory deductions;
- Once selected, candidates will be required to submit proof of a valid Personal Accident Insurance Cover, Certificate of Good Conduct, KRA PIN Certificate, NHIF, NSSF and Bank Account Details; and
- Canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
