Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne left out Victor Wanyama in his 24-man squad which will face Ghana at Kasarani stadium on weekend.
The English Premier League player who plays for London based club- Totenham Hotspurs will not be featured in the African Cup of Nations qualifier match due to an injury he picked in USA while on a friendly tour few about two months ago.
Former Harambee Stars coach Jacob Mulee asked the head coach to look for his alternative and avoid focusing on the ‘decorated’ player.
“We are just putting ourselves under a lot of pressure by thinking about Wanyama’s availability. The truth of the matter is that he may not be available considering that he is just resuming after an injury layoff. It would not make sense for his club to release him,” said Mulee.
Mulee also added that even if the Tophees released Wanyama, he will not be in his best form of fitness.
“The best thing to do is get a replacement because even if he comes, he will not be in his best shape. This is a big game for Stars and Wanyama has not been playing competitively. He may not be of much help,” Mulee said.
Since the injury, his England coach has not used him for the last one month. Neither was he laid off after transfer speculation romours.
