Mononucleosis, better known as ‘kiss disease’. It is a viral infection that is transmitted through saliva and close contact.
Its most notable symptoms are: sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, headache and fever.
It is usually caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and, in rare circumstances, by other viruses such as cytomegalovirus (CMV).
