It’s horrible to see them peer out through the nostrils! Greet everyone who approaches me. However, pulling the hair from our nose is not an option, is it the reason? It can cause death.

Although its presence is traumatic, especially if there is a lot of hair. The truth is that by tearing “hair” from the nose, we are causing an injury to the skin, which can lead to an infection, capable of advancing to the brain.

Why is it so dangerous?

This condition is also known as intracranial thrombophlebitis. “An inflammatory process that causes blood clots to form, which can obstruct vein in the brain,” suggests a study by the Journal of the Health Professional and Technician of Santiago de Cuba.

Being a rare condition, it is difficult to detect immediately, and when this is the case, the patient usually has experienced seizures.

What is the hair on the nose for?

Basically, the “hairs” of the nose work as filters against dust, pollen, spores, viruses and bacteria. Being a wet surface also prevents these particles from reaching the lungs and causing infection.
