As I stood behind her in the piercing Homabay sun, I thought about many things. First, my mother has always accepted me for who I am & what I believe, and as a kid, you also have to accept your parents for who they are. You have to meet, accept & respect everyone exactly as they are.”
Winnie acknowledged the significance of the new title bestowed upon her mother, which now includes the designation H.E. Dr. Canon (Stall of St. Teresa of Calcutta) Ida Betty Anyango Oyoo Odinga. She emphasized the importance of her mother’s service and sacrifice, stating, “Now I have to work even harder. I couldn’t be prouder, Mum.”
The event not only celebrated Ida’s achievements but also highlighted the values of acceptance and respect within familial relationships. Winnie’s heartfelt words resonated with many, showcasing the pride she feels for her mother’s accomplishments and her own commitment to honor them through her work.
Winnie Odinga’s post serves as a reminder of the significance of family support and the inspiration that can be drawn from the achievements of loved ones, as she continues to navigate her own journey in public service.
