French football union (UNFP) announced on Tuesday 24th April 2018 the passing on of Henri Michel at 70 years, former Harambee Stars coach.

The Frenchman served as Harambee stars boss for two months only after his appointment happened on August 29, 2012 .

Below are some of the facts you may not have known about Henri Michel

  1. Late Michel coached their national team Les Bleus to the 1984 Olympic title. He reigned France between 1984 and 1988
  2. He was born and raised in Aix-en-Provence, France
  3. During his youthful days he played for France’s Ligue 1 giants Nantes which he won the title 3 times
  4. He in total bagged 58 international caps between 1967 and 1980
  5. He took over Harambee Stars following the departure of Francis Kimanzi
  6. In July 2016 FKF were ordered to pay him Ksh 4.5 million shillings
  7. He also coached Morocco, Cameroon, Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea
  8. On the grounds of club level, he has coached notable clubs such as Egyptian side Zamalek, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Raja Casablanca of Morocco
  9. Late Michel made it to the World Cup final but lost it to West Germany with France in 1986
  10. During his time, Kenyan football stars such as Victor Wanyama and Dennis Oliech benefited from his skills

Frenchman Henri Michel, who led #Morocco to the 1998 World Cup, has died at the age of 70.

He worked extensively across Africa and managed the national teams of Cameroon, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea & Kenya.
