In any relationship, there is always a give and take. You give your time, effort, care, commitment, and love to your partner, and you expect to get most, if not all, of it back in return. However, sometimes, the things you want to give and receive may not be the same as what your partner wants. This can lead to frustration, resentment, and arguments.

The best way to resolve these issues is to communicate with your partner. Let them know what you need and expect from them. This doesn’t mean that you have to be demanding or aggressive. Simply be open and honest about your needs.

Here are 6 things that you should always demand in your relationship:

Consideration

Your partner should be considerate of your feelings, emotions, opinions, and views. They should take the time to understand you and what you need. If they don’t, let them know.

Time

It’s important to make time for each other, even if it’s just for a few minutes each day. Schedule regular dates or just spend time together doing something you both enjoy.

Presence

When you’re together, your partner should be present. They should be fully engaged with you and not distracted by other things. If they’re not, let them know how you’re feeling.

Empathy

Your partner should be able to empathize with you. They should be able to understand how you’re feeling and why. If they’re not, help them to understand.

Novelty

It’s important to keep things fresh in your relationship. Try new things together and explore new experiences. This will help to keep the spark alive.

Effort

Your partner should be willing to put in effort to make your relationship work. This means being willing to communicate, compromise, and forgive. If they’re not willing to put in the effort, you may need to reconsider the relationship.

Demanding these things from your partner doesn’t mean that you’re being selfish or demanding. It simply means that you’re setting boundaries and expectations for what you need in a relationship. If your partner is unwilling to meet your needs, then you may need to find someone who is.

Remember, a healthy relationship is a two-way street. Both partners need to be willing to give and take in order for it to work. If you’re not getting what you need from your relationship, don’t be afraid to speak up. You deserve to be happy.
