On January 9, 2025, the Ministry of Education officially released the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba announced that 962,512 candidates sat for the exam, marking a 6.89% increase from 2023. Among the many bright students who made their mark in the exams, several Kenyan celebrities stood out with exceptional performances.

One such celebrity is comedian Mulamwah, who took the exams at St. Anthony’s Boys High School in Kitale. His academic prowess was evident as he scored an impressive A- grade, with straight As in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Studies. Mulamwah also achieved A- in Kiswahili and B+ in English and Christian Religious Education (CRE). His success is a reminder that even those in the entertainment industry can achieve outstanding academic results.

Other Celebrities Who Excelled

Mulamwah is not alone in his academic achievements. Other Kenyan celebrities who performed exceptionally well in their KCSE exams include:

  • JB Masanduku: The comedian, who studied at the prestigious Starehe Boys Centre and School, scored three straight As in sciences. His results speak to his dedication, despite his successful career in comedy.
  • DJ Creme de la Creme (George Njuguna): Known for his musical career, DJ Creme was an index one student in primary school and continued to excel in high school. He achieved an A- in KCSE and later pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Kabarak University.
  • Nimrod Matunda: A lawyer who studied at Kakamega High School, Nimrod emphasizes that while academic success is important, it is not the only determining factor in one’s future. His message encourages others to pursue their talents beyond the classroom.

Education Is Your Right!

The results highlight the importance of education, but they also reflect that success is not limited to those who excel in exams alone. Mulamwah’s journey, from excelling in academics to becoming a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, proves that hard work and determination can open many doors, regardless of the path one takes.

Carrying the message forward, the Ministry of Education reminds students that education is their right and should be embraced without limitations, including societal pressures and norms.

Carolyne DeMathew Celebrates Son’s Performance

In other notable news, Carolyne DeMathew, the widow of the late John DeMathew, celebrated the academic achievements of her son, Tyrese Thiiru, who sat for his KCSE exams. After picking him up in a limousine, Carolyne expressed her pride in his results, while a teacher lauded his character, emphasizing the importance of good values alongside academic excellence.

The Bigger Picture

As we reflect on the success stories of Mulamwah and other celebrities, it is important to remember that education is a tool that opens doors but does not define one’s entire life. As many young people pursue their passions and careers in entertainment, sports, and other fields, it is clear that the key to success lies in nurturing a well-rounded personality, blending academic knowledge with practical skills and emotional intelligence.

The release of the 2024 KCSE results serves as a reminder that with hard work, resilience, and dedication, anyone can achieve greatness—whether they are in the classroom or on the stage.
