Popular actress Nyaboke Moraa has responded to criticism regarding her drinking habits as she copes with the tragic loss of her daughter, Marie Achieng. The actress, who has been open about her struggles with grief, asserted her right to mourn in her own way without judgment.
Nyaboke Addresses Critics
Taking to Instagram, Nyaboke expressed frustration at those questioning how she is handling her loss. She fired back at her critics, stating,
“There are these people telling me, ‘Oh, you’re drinking too much, take it easy on yourself, even though you’ve lost someone.’ First, lose someone, and then come talk to me. God has not taken a break and sent you to judge my life.”
Her statement comes after she previously revealed that since her daughter’s passing, alcohol had become a coping mechanism. She admitted that she often stayed in her room, unable to perform even basic daily tasks. It was only through the intervention of a close friend that she managed to leave the house and visit the gym.
A Painful Loss
Nyaboke lost her eldest daughter, Marie Achieng, in July 2024. While the cause of death was not disclosed, the tragedy left her heartbroken. Marie was laid to rest on August 10, 2024, in Kisumu County. In her eulogy, Nyaboke shared the immense pain she felt, a sorrow that continues to affect her deeply.
Support from Friends
Despite the backlash, Nyaboke has received support from close friends, including Mary Biketi, girlfriend of CS Wycliffe Oparanya. The two were recently spotted enjoying lunch together, with Biketi picking her up in a luxurious Land Cruiser. Fans praised Biketi for being a supportive friend during Nyaboke’s difficult time.
As she navigates life after her daughter’s passing, Nyaboke remains firm in her belief that grief is personal and should not be dictated by others.
