The once-promising partnership between media personality Oga Obinna and Abantone musician Stoopid Boy has taken a bitter turn, barely weeks after what many hoped was the musician’s fresh start following rehab. What began as a heartfelt effort to rehabilitate and support a struggling artist has quickly devolved into public clashes, online rants, and now, legal threats.
After Stoopid Boy was rescued from the troubled environment of Gotta City and admitted into rehab, Oga Obinna had extended a generous helping hand. The former radio presenter revealed he had plans to enroll the young artist in school and even pledged to pay his rent for three months post-rehab. He also offered him mentorship by involving him in weekly shoots and committed to sponsoring one music video to reignite his career.
But upon his return to Gotta City, Stoopid Boy seemed to go off-script.
Instead of accepting the support plan, Stoopid Boy resumed his life back in Gotta City and took to TikTok Live with an explosive rant aimed at Obinna. He accused the YouTuber of pretending to care and questioned his capability to help others, saying: “If Obinna was unable to take care of his wife and kids, how will he take care of me? Let him first keep a wife.”
Stoopid further declared he had no intentions of resuming music and now identifies as a full-time content creator. He also controversially stated that he has no plans to stop drinking, contradicting his earlier claims of salvation during his time in rehab.
In a sharp escalation, Stoopid Boy claimed he was preparing to take legal action against both Obinna and Munez, a member of Obinna’s team. Backed by the assertion that his father is a lawyer, he insisted he knew his rights and was prepared to fight back. “I will take Obinna and Munez to court. I am not lying to you. I know my rights.”
The online community has responded with a mix of disappointment, criticism, and concern. While some expressed sympathy for Obinna, others criticized both parties, especially Stoopid Boy, for mishandling what could have been a powerful comeback story.
In light of the heated exchange, Obinna clarified that he had officially cut ties with Stoopid Boy but would still fulfill his promise to fund one music video. He also encouraged Kenyans to continue supporting the musician from afar. His final remarks hinted at frustration, but also a desire to avoid further conflict: “I’ve done what I can. The rest is up to him.”
This fallout between Oga Obinna and Stoopid Boy highlights the complex journey of recovery, mentorship, and fame. While the initial effort was commendable, the breakdown in communication and trust between the two has clouded what could have been a redemptive tale for the young artist. As the story continues to unfold, many are left wondering whether Stoopid Boy will find his footing—or if this marks the end of his short-lived music revival.
