Last weekend, Kenyans on Twitter started a hasgtag to find ‘Missing’ President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Using #FindPresidentUhuru, Kenyans reported widely on what they thought were matters of public interest the Head of State was not addressing.
The social media campaign went on to occupy the tending slot for a better part of the weekend, and true to it’s course, it has reached President Uhuru Kenyatta who responded through State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena.
“I’m shocked that people say they haven’t seen the president since he left China, yet on 3rd of this month he had a meeting with executives from Global Fund and there was a statement about it,” Kanze said in a tweet on State House’s Twitter handle.
She added that the president was ‘present’ attending to other state functions .
“The President is around, it doesn’t mean that because he is not seen in public he is not there, he has an office where he goes every day and he is working on several things,” Kanze further said.
She however accepted that there was breakdown in communication between the State House and the public but promised to keep Kenyans posted on the whereabouts of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I agree that the communication from my side as the State House Spokesperson has had a setback, and I accept that a mistake was made, but I am focused and I am going to make things right and share information more frequently with the media and the public,” she said.
